The Communists assumed control of Hungary on 22nd March 1919, but were displaced by Romanian troops in August.

Portrait Issue

This issue comes with both upright and sideways watermark. The latter (illustrated) is much scarcer.

Harvesters issue

On the 21st July 1919 all 10 of the original Harvesters values issued in January 1919, along with the unissued 3f claret, were overprinted MAGYAR TANÁCSKÖZTARSASÁG, which translates as "Hungarian Soviet Republic".
